Personalized Learning 4 All: The Time is Now
Special education students have had Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for decades. It is way past time to allow all students to have the same specialized attention and program. Many school districts are changing the script and changing the game from a traditional education system to a truly personalized individualized education system based on student interest, talent and passion. I call it the “help them find their passion in life and they never have to work a day in their life" system. Personalized learning plans, done correctly, prepares students to become who they want to be as opposed to what we want them to be! Dr. Adams will discuss and explore his experience with this innovation prospect for systemic change!

Dr. Darryl Adams, the world’s rock and roll superintendent, has spent almost 30 years as an educator and administrator with the goal of preparing students for College, Career and Citizenship. As former superintendent, Dr. Adams led significant reform efforts in the Coachella Valley Unified School District and in the nation. Under Dr. Adams’ leadership the voters in CVUSD approved “Measure X”, a 21st-century Mobile Learning initiative that placed an iPad in the hands of all 20,000 CVUSD students from preschool through high school. Dr. Adams has been named by the White House and the U.S. Department of Education as one of the Top 100 Superintendents in the Nation. Dr. Adams was recently praised by President Obama for his innovative work and collaborative spirit in ensuring that all students in his district have digital tools and broadband internet access that provides 21st-century learning opportunities. The President gave Dr. Adams a most celebrated shout-out for his innovative and creative Wifi-on-Wheels program that installs Wifi routers on school buses and then parks them in neighborhoods and trailer home parks where there is no connectivity.
