Innovative Technologies for Learners with Reading Differences
This session will focus on readily available technology resources which bypass students reading challenges, including decoding, fluency and comprehension. Students need access to grade level content. Participants in this session will explore ten tools and strategies which bypass reading challenges and promote success and independence.


Karen Janowski is an Assistive & Educational Technology Consultant, and Adjunct Professor at Simmons College in Boston, MA. She presents both locally and nationally about the importance of using ubiquitous technologies which remove the obstacles to learning for all students and is a passionate advocate of Universal Design for Learning. Janowski is an EdCampBoston and EdCampAccess organizer.

Innovative Technologies for Learning with Writing Challenges
The writing process encompasses many subskills necessary for writing success. Students may struggle with legible handwriting, brainstorming and generating ideas, spelling, grammar and syntax, working memory, organizing ideas, and editing and revising skills. Participants in this session will learn about tools and resources which promote success and independence, despite the writing challenge.
