Learn how James Fowler from Santa Ana USD has used Apex Learning digital curriculum to meet the needs of students that need to recover credits. James will share their program’s innovative strategies for instruction, progress monitoring, and student motivation. Lessons learned and examples of success, from high levels of course completion to increases in graduation rates, will be shared with time for questions and collaboration at the end of the session.

Independent Studies: A Play Therapy Approach to Social-Emotional Learning
In this session, you will hear about the Independent Learning Center's approach to social-emotional learning. The program reengages and supports recent dropouts using a play therapy approach to social-emotional learning to help students back on track to graduation. Learn how to implement art therapy, robotics, meditation and other enrichment activities and discover the effects that these enrichment activities have for at-risk students.

Apex Learning: Digital Content Through the Eyes of Students, Teachers and Administrators
Not all digital content is created alike. Learn how Apex Learning’s unique differences yield powerful academic outcomes for diverse student populations across the country. We will specifically focus on how students engage with course content, how teachers facilitate learning and individualize instruction, develop instructional interventions including small group and individual direct instruction, and explore implementation models from personalized learning options for every student to virtual and blended instructional models. We will end the session with a look at what is new for this year and what is coming in the future.
