When we analyze the US education system and classrooms across our nation, we see dramatic differences and gaps in innovation. Side-by-side images of classrooms from 1917 and one from 2017, yields eerie similarities in many schools today, even with the 100-year difference. What can be done? How can schools and classrooms transform from those from the industrial era where desks are in rows, students are facing forward, and have teachers always front and center to ones that are student centered, personalized, and leverage the power of technology? Districts and schools across the nation are transforming into ones that are Future Ready, revamping such aspects as teacher empowerment, personalized professional learning, innovative learning spaces, community partnerships, digital learning initiatives, among others. This keynote will inspire school leaders and provide free tools and resources to empower them to transform their districts, schools, and classrooms into ones that better prepare students for the world they face tomorrow.
Teachers have used Interactive Notebooks for years but why not let go of the cutting and gluing and let students CREATE interactive notebooks online? Digital Interactive Notebooks allow students a new way to present their work while address class and technology standards.
Every journey requires a great guide, this is the guide for 1:1 deployments. Walk away with everything needed to begin, expand or improve your program, from policy to procedures, parent handouts to student expectations.
The power inherent in 1:1 deployments to enhance student learning is unmistakable. Implemented with thought and purpose the 1:1 learning environment supports student equity throughout an institution. These successful 1:1 deployments don’t occur by accident, rather planning, organizational commitment, long term vision, and community partnerships are crafted to create a sustainable program.
Take a journey through the 1:1 galaxy to discover the paths to successfully implement a 1:1 device program; from visioning, pre-planning, training, implementation stages to the deployment, reflection and iteration for success this session will visit the various education locations that create the ultimate map for 1:1 learning. Leveraging technology at each stage of the process, the session will demonstrate how innovation can ensure a quality learning experience creating equity for all students. The session explores the power of participant-driven professional learning, of engaging the community stakeholders and utilizing personalized tools to evaluate and iterate student learning.
While the answer to life, the universe, and everything is 42, this session seeks to determine if the long sought after question to that answer is, “How do you implement a successful, equitable and sustainable 1:1 device program?”
Come to be inspired, leave empowered. Your students deserve the best - let’s learn from others’ challenges and successes.
